Copyright on PCs and phones rejected by the European Court

The fair compensation - that is, the tax due on copyright for each device that can duplicate audio and video, including smartphones and PC - comes in part rejected by the EU Court of Justice. The EU Court sentence of 2016, September 22nd (Court-EU-Cause-C-110-15-of-09.22.2016) considers inconsistent with European law the tax on the device clearly not intended to private use (as smartphones and company laptops); it considers unfair that it is a private negotiation between SIAE and companies to decide whether and how to exempt certain products from "withdrawal" for copyright; it considers not compatible with European law the reimbursement mechanism of fair compensation exclusively to end users and only in their favor© Sep 27 2016
